Rod Ewins Wood Sculpture 1964-67

From 1964 to mid 1965, I learned wood carving and gold-leaf gilding from William Wheeler ARCA (Lond), known particularly for his church sculptures and restoration. I attended classes only once weekly, so in addition to various exercises I produced only 3 finished sculptures during this time. I made one further piece after moving to Tasmania in 1967, then concentrated on painting and printmaking and did not return to sculpture. Three of these pieces are shown here. They were student works, and should be understood as such.
